Valerie Elam has found her own easy style by playing to locals and tourist from around the world for the last
10 years.

Living on the Gulf Coast of Florida has given Valerie a unique feel to her music that truly fits the South Florida relaxed tastes. A combination of Diana Krall keyboard feel with a sultry Nora Jones/Sade vocals, add a little guitar and congas and bass you have what great music is all about. Valerie plays her own original music, which is mostly mid tempo range rhythms with a slight Latin feel, fits perfectly into any easy listening venue. Most of Valerie’s songs are inspired by events in her life and the lives of friends so they have a fresh and real feel. Valerie takes songs everyone knows and loves, gives them a fresh twist, and makes you fall in love with them all over again. Some of these songs include, ‘Fly Me to the Moon’, ‘Peaceful Easy Feeling’, ‘It's Too Late’, ‘Temptation’, ‘Moon Dance’, and ‘Stand by Me’.

Valerie’s son, Dallas, who has been the lead guitar player in the band for the last 4 years, has moved to Los Angeles, California to attend the Musician Institute. Dallas is 18 years old and currently performing at the Crescent Hotel in Beverley Hill on Sunday from 4-8. Valerie is so proud of him and his accomplishments as he is pursuing his dream to make it big in the music ‘biz’.

Valerie is currently working on her second collection of original tunes, which should be ready in the fall of 2009. On this project, she is adding some of her favorite songs (not originals) that she plays for her regulars at her local restaurant, Brew Babies Garden Bistro that is located in Cape Coral, Florida. Brew Babies Garden Bistro is a direct extension of Valerie’s personality, from the decor, to the food, to the music venue.

Valerie and her husband, Wayne, own and operate this little piece of utopia. Brew Babies Garden Bistro is open Tuesday - Saturday. The gardens, fountains, red velvet sofas, the eclectic menu, that is fresh and always changing, is home to Valerie and her band “The Velvet Edge”. Every Thursday and Friday night the place is buzzing with the locals as well as tourist from around the world waiting for the concerts to begin.
